A Gentle Recovery Routine After Laser, Peels, or Microneedling

Updated: Aug 4

After a laser treatment, chemical peel, or microneedling session, your skin barrier is temporarily compromised. The goal for the first few days is simple: calm inflammation, prevent moisture loss, and avoid anything that can sting or trigger irritation.

This guide walks you through a conservative, dermatologist-aligned recovery routine you can adapt to your provider’s instructions.

Important: Always consult your clinician’s first. If you have increasing pain, blistering, pus, fever, or worsening swelling, contact your provider promptly.

What’s normal after treatment (and what isn’t)

  • Normal: redness, warmth, tightness, mild swelling, flaking/peeling (timing depends on procedure).

  • Not normal: rapidly worsening pain, spreading redness, yellow crusting, pus, or blisters (unless your provider told you to expect them).

A simple recovery routine (first 7 days)

Day 0–2: Calm + protect

  • Cleanse with Daily Moisture Balm: Pat—don’t rub.

  • Apply Post Treatment Balm as often as needed to reduce transepidermal water loss and pain. This product includes a natural analgesic that helps reduce pain associated with even the most extreme laser treatments.

  • Sun: avoid direct sun. (Lorenol Labs® Post Treatment Balm includes sulforaphane, which builds enzymes in the skin to help block UV rays).

Day 3–7: Support the barrier

  • Keep it simple: continue using Daily Balancing Cleanser + Post Treatment Balm daily. Let flaking skin shed naturally—don’t pick.

  • Apply Soothing Silver Cream layered over the Post Treatment Balm 48 hours after your procedure to deeply hydrate and stop itching. If stinging occurs, remove the Soothing Silver Cream and use Post Treatment Balm only for the next 24 hours.

  • Apply Daily Regenerating Serum at night 72 hours after your procedure to help promote collagen growth and diminish hyperpigmentation or scarring.

When can you restart vitamin C, retinoids, or exfoliants?

There isn’t one universal timeline—downtime varies by procedure intensity and your skin’s sensitivity. Daily Regenerating Serum from Lorenol Labs® has the anti-inflammatory ingredient sulforaphane, which makes it a much less irritating active Vitamin C product.

This product specifically helps promote collagen production deep in the dermis and diminishes the possibility of hyperpigmentation or scarring. It is recommended to start using the Daily Regenerating Serum 72 hours after a post-procedure at night, especially for those who have hyperpigmentation and keloiding issues.

What to avoid (common irritants)

  • Retinoids, exfoliating acids (AHA/BHA), scrubs, and cleansing brushes until skin is healed.

  • Reintroduce Dermal Night Repair with Retinol slowly (after two weeks): Start, every other night alternating with the Soothing Silver Cream.

  • Heat (hot yoga/saunas), heavy sweating, and swimming pools for the first several days (or per provider guidance).

  • Fragrance/essential oils and high-alcohol products. (for at least one week)

Product picks for the first 72 hours

Keep it simple and barrier-focused. Many clients like using Post Treatment Balm to help with inflammation, reduce tightness, and support comfort during the early recovery window.

For heat, redness, irritation, and itch, Soothing Silver Cream is designed to hydrate up to 24 hours and relieve itching symptoms.
