Dermatitis/Contact Dermatitis/Atopic Dermatitis

Dry skin can be itchy, flaky and uncomfortable.  Causes of dry skin include overexposure to the elements, harsh soaps, aging skin etc.

Dermatitis is an inflammation of the skin. Depending on the type of dermatitis, areas of skin may become red and itchy with some acute attacks causing crusty scales or blisters that ooze fluid.

Contact dermatitis typically causes the skin to develop a pink or red rash, which usually itches. Pinpointing the exact cause of contact dermatitis can be difficult. Contact dermatitis may be an irritant or an allergic reaction. Typical chemical irritants include detergents, soaps, some synthetic fibers, nail polish remover, antiperspirants, and formaldehyde (found in no iron fabrics, polishes, artificial-fingernail adhesive, chipboard, and foam insulation). Some plants, in particular, primula, chrysanthemums, daffodils and tulips, may irritate some individuals.  Rubber gloves, even nickel or cobalt in jewelry can cause allergic contact dermatitis if the person is allergic to these specific substances. Both types of contact dermatitis may be caused by cosmetics, perfumes, hair dyes, and skin-care products.

Hyper-pigmentation Issues

Uneven skin tone or pigmentation issues can occur as a result of overexposure to the sun, pregnancy, or the use of birth control pills. In some cases, common cosmetic procedures such as medical grade peels and laser resurfacing can cause hyperpigmention. Other types of pigmentation issues are lentigines, or what are commonly referred to as age spots occur on the face, decollete, and hands as well as other areas of the skin,  and can show signs of dark pigment as we age.  Most of us will experience age spots as we become older as a result of over-exposure to the sun. This type of hyper pigmenting has proven to be difficult to treat.  Recent concerns about the frequent use of hydroquinone which has been used to treat hyperpigmentation resulted in a ban in several states as well as abroad. Extensive research has continued to identify new alternatives to non-hydroquinone compounds that can reduce the appearance of dark spots and uneven skin coloration without the damage to skin.  Most common products on the market today have proven to be ineffective. LORENOL LABS™, however, has several product alternatives that have shown dramatic results in reducing the appearance of dark spots and pigmentation issues.

Problem Skin Prone to Blemishes and Acne

The Truth About Acne:

Skin is comprised of two major classes of innate immunity peptide:

  1. β defenses

  2. Cathelicidins

Inflammation quite often is associated with skin conditions that have bacterial involvement, which is in partly due to lipopolysaccharide (LPS),  that is released from the outer membrane of gram-negative bacteria, and lipoteichoic acid (LTA), released from gram-positive bacteria debris.  This effect encourages the down-regulation of pro-inflammatory cytokines.

Androgens are actually hormones that stimulate sebum production and are the highest in teenage years.  When the oil gland exit gets choked (shut by heavy sebum flow), the bacteria multiplying their ideal environment; oxygen-poor closed comedones (whitehead)  Oxygen in the air then changes its color to black, forming anon comedones or blackheads.
